Lyrics
(Folk song)
Chicken’s crowing on Sourwood Mountain,
Hey ho, diddle-um day.
So many pretty girls, I can’t count ’em,
Hey ho, diddle-um day.

I am enjoying your blog. Great lesson ideas! Which notation software are you using? Your scores are so clear!
I’m glad you’re finding some helpful ideas! I use Sibelius! I love it!
Hi Beth. I’m working on finishing my Masters and would really like to use this version of Sourwood Mountain (in addition to two other versions I have,) but I need to be able to site a source. Do you happen to have that information? I suppose I could site you/your website, but if it’s from a book, that might make my comparison more legitimate. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
I think the easiest would be to cite my website. I find folk songs from all different sources, and sometimes I meld the different versions into my own version. So I can’t say for sure where I found this song. 🙂
