Lyrics

(Folk song)

1. Lou lou, skip to my lou,
Lou lou, skip to my lou,
Lou lou, skip to my lou,
Skip to my lou, my darling.

2. Lost my partner, what’ll I do?
Lost my partner, what’ll I do?
Lost my partner, what’ll I do?
Skip to my lou, my darling.

3. I’ll find another one just like you,
I’ll find another one just like you,
I’ll find another one just like you,
Skip to my lou, my darling.

Formation: Students stand a circle, each person standing next to their partner. One student (“It”) is in the center of the circle.

  • Verse 1: Students in the circle hold hands and circle right.
  • Verse 2: Students in the circle stop moving, and “It” skips around inside the circle. At the end of the verse, “It” steals a partner from one of the couples. The person whose partner is stolen follows immediately, skipping around the ring and stealing another partner.
  • Verse 3: “It” joins a new partner as the person now without a partner becomes the new “It” and stands in the center of the circle. All partners promenade around the circle.
