Lyrics
(American folk song)
Take your partner down the line,
Amasee*, amasee
Swing your partner, swing again
Amasee, amasee
*Amasee = “I must see”
Movement
- Formation: two lines of partners facing each other with the “head couple” at one end of the lines
- The “head couple” goes “down the line” (down the middle between the lines). The traditional way is to hold hands and “shimmy” (side skip). Another way is to have the couple decide how they will travel down the line: anything from just regular walking to crawling to being silly… whatever. The other students clap on the beat.
