Plainsies Clapsies

Version 1

Formation: Each student has an object such as a ball, bean bag, or scarf. If using a bouncy ball, the ball can be bounced against the floor or wall. (Teaching suggestion: As you teach the game motions with your object, ask students to pantomime without holding objects yet.)

• Ms. 1. = Toss object up and catch
• Ms. 2 = Toss object up and clap (while it’s in the air), catch
• Ms. 3 = Toss object up, do rolling motion with both arms (hands in fists), catch
• Ms. 4 = Toss object up, touch shoulders, catch
• Ms. 5 = Toss up with right hand
• Ms. 6 = Toss up with left hand
• Ms. 7 = Toss high
• Ms. 8 = Toss low
• Ms. 9 = Toss object up, touch knee, catch
• Ms. 10 = Toss object up, left leg and touch toe, catch
• Ms. 11 = Toss object up, lift foot and touch heel, catch
• Ms. 12 = Lift one leg, reach under leg while tossing object up

Variation 1

• Ms. 1-11 = Same as above
• Ms. 12 = Toss object, twirl around and catch

Variation 2

• Ms. 1-10 = Same as above
• Ms. 11 = Sing “clap your hands” while tossing object and clapping twice.
• Ms. 12 = Sing “through it goes” while making a circle with arms (fingers touching) as the object comes down in the middle of the arm circle.
