Lyrics
(Folk tune from Denmark, Lyrics by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey)
Here comes the wild rabbit who lives in the wood,
He’s looking for cabbage and other good food.
Oh Bunny so gray, we want you to stay,
Now carch the wild rabbit before he’s away!
Circle game
Formation: Students sit in a circle holding hands while one student, the Rabbit, stands outside the circle.
While singing, the Rabbit walks around the circle behind the other students. On the last word, the Rabbit points to the student sitting closest. That student stands up and chases the Rabbit, trying to tag the Rabbit before the Rabbit goes around the circle once and sits down in the empty space. If the Rabbit makes it without being tagged, the chaser becomes the new Rabbit. If the Rabbit is tagged, the Rabbit sits in a makeshift hutch made by chairs in the corner of the room and the chaser becomes the new Rabbit.
