- Born in Norway
- Romantic Period
- Started to study the piano at the age of 6 (his mother taught him)
- At 16, he entered the Leipzig Conservatory
- Later, he moved to Copenhagen, where he met his cousin, Nina Hagerup, whom he married.
- He wrote 140 songs, which she sung (She became an expert in interpreting his songs).
- He was interested in Norwegian folk songs and incorporated them into his compositions.
- Peer Gynt was one of his most famous works.
