Lyrics - Danish
(Melody by Josef Klug, 1542, Lyrics by H.A. Brorson, 1732)
Den yndigste rose er funden
blandt stiveste torne oprunden,
vor Jesus, den dejligste pode,
blandt syndige mennesker groede.
Al verden nu burde sig fryde,
med salmer mangfoldig udbryde,
men mangen har aldrig fornummen,
at rosen i verden er kommen.
Forhærdede tidselgemytter,
så stive som torne og støtter,
hvi holder I eder så ranke
i stoltheds fordærvede tanke!
Ak, søger de ydmyge steder,
i støvet for Frelseren græder!
Så får I vor Jesus i tale,
thi roserne vokser i dale.
Lad verden mig alting betage,
lad tornene rive og nage,
lad hjertet kun dåne og briste,
min rose jeg aldrig vil miste!
Translation – The cutest rose has been found
The cutest rose has been found
among stiffest thorns rounded,
our Jesus, the most beautiful graft,
among sinful men grew.
The whole world should now rejoice,
with hymns diverse break out,
but many have never heard,
that the rose in the world has come.
Hardened thistle mites,
as stiff as thorns and supports,
why do you keep yourselves upright?
in the corrupt thoughts of pride!
Alas, seek the humble places,
in the dust of the Savior weeps!
Then you will have our Jesus spoken,
for the roses grow in valleys.
Let the world captivate me,
let the thorns tear and gnaw,
let the heart only roar and burst,
my rose I will never lose!
