Lyrics - German
(Folk tune, Lyrics by Hoffmann von Fallersleben, 1798-1874)
Welch ein Singen, Musiziern, Pfeifen, Zwitschern, Tirilier’n!
Frühling will nun einmarschier’n, kommt mit Sang und Schalle.
English Translation – All birds are already there
1. All birds are already there, all birds, all!
What a singing, making music, whistling, chirping, Tirilier’n!
Spring now wants to invade, comes with sang and sound.
2. How they are all funny, nimble and happy to rain!
Blackbird, Thrush, Finch and Star and all the flock of birds
wish you a happy year, all salvation and blessings.
3. What they announce to us now, we take to heart:
We also want to be funny, funny as the birds,
here and there, field, field, sing, jump, joke.
