The Pearl

‘Neath the deep blue waters of the ocean
Lay a pearl within a cavern’s night,
Until a diver brav’d the sea’s commotion,
And found a gem reflecting heaven’s light.

As a strain of music’s haunting measure
Is evoked from shadow realms unseen,
From out the darkness came the glowing treasure,
At last to grace the brow of Beauty’s queen.
