Lyrics

(Folk song from Israel)

A qua qua dela omar,
Qua, qua, qua.
Del si ma trico, trico trico tra.
Valo valo, valo valo valo, vala!

Lyrics have no meaning.

Circle Singing Game

Formation: Students stand in a circle with arms out to their sides and palms up. Students’ right hands rest in the left palms of the players on their right.

When the song begins, one student uses right hand to clap the left hand of the player on the left. (Student’s hand goes back to original position.) The student on the left does the same thing. The clapping is “passed around” the circle on the steady beat.

Optional: When the song is finished the claps continue while everyone counts to ten. The tenth person needs to quickly remove their hand to avoid getting hit. If hit, the player is out. Also, if the ninth player hits something other than the tenth player’s hand, the ninth player is also out. The circle gets smaller and smaller until there are two players who finish the game with a thumb war.

  1. Thank you for this, I am a Music teacher frrom Israel!
The lyrics are in gibberish- they don’t meant anything.
There’s a hebrew version of the second part where there are some insults:
“Your father is a monkey, Your mother a hippo and you are a donkey…”
Unfortunately, that’s the version Israeli children sing- even to this day!!! But it’s rarely used in educational activities.

The point of the clap that get’s passed around is that when the song is finished the claps continue while everyone counts to ten. The player the ten lands on needs to move his hand so not to get hit- I f he gets hit he is out of the game. If the player next to him hits something other than his hand -HE is out of the game.
The circle gets smaller and smaller until there are two players who finish the game as a thumb war.
It is generally done sitting on the floor.
