Version 1 (no lyrics)

Version 2 (Hungarian lyrics)

Lyrics - Hungarian
(Folk song from Hungary, collected by Béla Bartók in 1909)
Láttál-e már valaha
Csipkebokor rózsát
Csipkebokor rózsa közt
Két szál majorannát
Egyik szál majoránna
Virág Erzsi lenne,
Másik szál majoránna
Váci Gábor lenne.
English Translation - Have you ever seen
Have you ever seen
A rose in a rose bush
Among rose bushes
Two sprigs of marjoram
One sprig of marjoram
Would be Erzsi Virág,
Another sprig of marjoram
Would be Gábor Váci.

I believe I found a Hungarian song that I assume an original version of this: Láttál-e már valaha. I can’t find a version of this that is a canon-is there a source?
I learned this version from a Kodaly professor. Thank you for giving me the original title. I will add it to the post! 🙂
