Lyrics
(Folk song, Lyrics by John Erwin, publ. 1921)
1. On Easter Day, as I was going
Through the woods, the winds were blowing,
Far away the church bells rang:
Ding dong, cling clang.
2. And with the distant church bells’ ringing
Came the sound of children singing,
Sweet as angels heard afar
Alleluia!
3. I wished the song might last forever;
Sweeter music heard I never;
Borne across the fields afar
Alleluia!
