Singing and dancing is a traditional way to celebrate Ayelevi, son of Ayele, who was very good at singing and dancing. The first four measures are often sung as the “Call,” the the last four measures, the “Response.”

Hand clapping
Formation – Students stand in a circle with hands out to the side: Right hand palm facing up, Left hand palm facing down.
- First time:
- Measures 1-4 = Students clap the hands of the people on both sides: Right hands clap upward, Left hand clap downward. (8 times)
- Measures 5-8 = Students bring hands in front of bodies without turning hands, i.e. Right palms face up, Left palms face down. Clap 8 times.
- Second time:
- Repeat same pattern – or for a challenge, turn hands over so Right hand palms are facing down, and Left hand palms are facing up.
