Tis Eastertime at Last

Lyrics

(Melody by Emma R. Rich, Lyrics by Maud L. Betts)

1. The pretty flowers were sleeping within their snow-decked bed,
But spring, fair spring, has called them, and this is what she said:
“Oh children of the spring, the wintertime has passed.
Awake, lift up your heads and smile, “‘Tis Easter time at last.”

2. The birdies all had journeyed to southern lands away,
But now the spring has called them and they have heard her say:
“Oh birdies who have flown, the wintertime has passed,
Come back and build your nests and sing, “‘Tis Easter time at last.”

3. The flowers and birdies listened to spring’s sweet gentle call,
They come again to greet us with songs and smiles for all.
And all things seem to say, “The wintertime has passed,
Come children, join with us and sing, “‘Tis Easter time at last.”
