Wind Up the Apple Tree

(Folk song)

Wind up the apple tree, hold on tight.
Wind it all day and wind it all night.
(repeat as needed)

Stir up the dumplings,
the pot boils over.
(repeat as needed)

Formation: One student is the Winder, and one is the Tree. All students hold hands in a non-straight line with the Winder at the front and the Tree at the end.

Repeat measures 1-8 while the Winder leads pulls the line counterclockwise into a spiral around the Tree (who stands still). When the spiral gets tight, the students stop moving.

The last 4 measures are repeated while students jump or gallop and unwind the spiral by moving in the opposite direction.
