Lyrics
(Folk song)
Here comes a blue bird through my window,
Hi diddle-dum-a day day day.
Take a little partner, hop in the garden,
Hi diddle-dum-a day day day.
Singing Game
Formation: Students stand in a circle holding raised hands. One student, who is “It” stands outside the circle.
As students sing, “It” flies in and out of the circle (under the raised hands of the students). On “take a little partner,” “It” chooses a partner, and both students go in the middle of the circle and hop in place.
The song begins again with both “birds” flying in and out until “Take a little partner,” at which time both “birds” choose new “birds,” who hop in the center of the circle.
