My old hen’s a good old hen,
She lays eggs for the section (railroad) men,
Sometimes one, sometimes two,
Sometimes enough for the whole blamed crew*.

Click old hen, or I’m a-going to see you,

Cluck, old hen, or I’ll give you away.
