Lyrics
(Folk song)
Blue bird, blue bird through my window (repeat twice)
Oh, Johnny aren’t you tired?
Take a little girl [boy] and tap her [him] on the shoulder, (repeat twice)
Oh, Johnny aren’t you tired?
Circle Game
Formation: Students stand in a circle holding hands.
- Section A – Students raise their hands up (open windows). One student is chosen to be the “bluebird” to “fly” in and out of the “windows” as they sing. On the high note, “Oh,” students close “windows” by lowering hands, trapping the “bluebird” student either in or out of the circle.
- Section B – “Bluebird” now walks either outside or inside the circle (depending on whether they were trapped inside or outside of the circle), tapping students of the opposite sex on the shoulders. On the high note, “Oh,” the student who is tapped is the new “Bluebird.”
