Lyrics
(Music by Clarence Butler, publ. 1924, Lyrics by Thomas Bailey Aldrich)
1. The sky is gray, as gray as gray may be,
There is no bird upon the bough,
There is no leaf on vine or tree.
2. The stream alone is making music now,
But in his song there seems to be
The scent of blossoms on the bough.
