Bell horses, bell horses, what’s the time of day?
One o’clock, two o’clock, Time to away.
You could use a hobby horse, but it is not required. Children are in a circle formation.
One child is “it” the ‘bell horse’ and either walks around the outside of the circle OR “rides” the hobby horse as the children sing the song. At the end of the song, the rider passes the horse to the child stops, and the child who he/she is standing behind is the next “it.”
Children can face outwards in the circle after having a turn so that the rider can try to stop near someone who hasn’t yet had a turn.
Children can be scattered randomly around the room, with the child who is “it” trying to ride to someone who hasn’t yet had a turn. Previous riders could sit in their place while non-riders could stand.
