Lyrics
As I was walking down the street, down the street, down the street,
A pretty girl (nice young man) I chanced to meet.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho!
A-rig-a-jig-jig and away we go,
Away we go, away we go,
A-rig-a-jig-jig and a-way we go.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho!
Game
- Section A – One student (“It #1”) walks around outside a seated circle of students and taps a student (“It #2) on “friend” in measure 5. (I like singing “friend of mine” instead of “pretty girl.”)
- Section B – “It #1” gallops quickly, followed by “It #2” around behind the circle until “It #1” reaches empty space “It #2” just vacated.
- Play starts over with “It #2” walking around the circle and choosing a new student.
- Variation: “It #1” stays in the game with “It #2.” When the game starts over, both students pick new students, and play continues until all students have been chosen.

Hi I am looking for the instrumental track for rig a jig jig . Can you help me please?
Hi Teresa! If you are a Beth’s Notes Plus member, you can download the midi file of the melody, but it’s not an accompaniment track, if that’s what you are looking for. 🙂
