Lyrics - Rōmaji
(Japanese folk song)
Zui zui zukkorobashi
Goma miso zui,
Chatsubo ni owarete toppinshan,
Nuketara dondokosho,
Tawara no nezumi
Ga kome kutte chu chu chu chu.
Ottosan ga yondemo,
Okkasan ga yondemo,
Ikkiko nashi yo,
Ido no mawari de
Ochawan kaita no dare?
English Translation - Smash, smash as always
Smash, smash as always,
The sesame miso paste, smash,
Procession with tea jar tribute, crack, crack,
Run to the house, rat-a-tat,
Everyone leaves and goes inside, slam
Even if mice are eating
From the bale of rice, squeek,
Squeek, squeek, squeek,
Even if father calls,
Even if mother calls,
Do not go home,
They’ll ask, “Who broke the rice bowl near the well?”
